AAARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!

Something has happened to our DVD-RW drive. Whenever I put in an audio CD, it takes about ten minutes to load, with lots of whirring and groaning that never happened before. CDs with programs on it won't run at all. I've tried System Restore and scanning for viruses (but the subscription expired this morning, too), but nothing helps. What am I going to do??

That game isn't listed on the page I use to see which games have that obnoxious protection mechanism but I suppose it's still possible. This page (http://www.glop.org/starforce/detect.php) will show you how to find it and this page (http://www.glop.org/starforce/remove.php) has the removal utility if you do have Starforce on your system.

Anyway, luckily enough, DVD-RW drives are dirt cheap these days even if you end up needing a new one. You can pick one up for less than the price of a new computer game last I looked and they only seem to go down in price as time goes on.

DVD and CD drivers normally just use the built-in Windows drivers. But installing a new drive would almost certainly work, yes.
