I agree, I agree, I agree. I was ranting about this movie after watching it about all the inconsistancies . It gets slightly better after the first viewing, but even TPM got better after the initial letdown, so...heh.
I don't know why people wouldn't like Will. He's just...he's the perfect man that only exists in fiction. :p I know that they're out there, though. Mostly they complain about him being a goody-goody. (Because, you know, goody goodies steal ships and run about with pirates all the time).
On the compass - I'm starting to question whether it actually points at Jack (or if there was just stupid staging in one of the scenes). There were a few places the angles seemed...wrong. I'd have to watch a third time to be sure, so I won't have an answer til the DVD comes out.
