The Great War thing was a very big part of the book. There Smith (the Seventh Doctor) was very hessitant to allow physical punishment and really disliked having to take the army classes which rubbed the Headmaster up the wrong way. He also had a much closer relationship with Tim which I hope they develop in the second part. Absolutely loved the episode though!
