Spoiled Myself

I read somewhere today that Padmé's funeral takes place during Ep III. But then how does Leia remember her? I suppose it couldn't be a flash-forward or a Force-vision? Or a decoy? This could really screw up my backstory.

Maybe I'll be able to forget about it. Two years is a long time.

I think George dug himself a hole with that Leia revelation in ROTJ LOL. This is the problem with prequels; you're locked into what you've already established in the future, and so even if the backstory doesn't make sense in retrospect, you have to be consistent.

I guess in this case he's sacrificing consistency and continuity ;).

The continuity seems to be holding up quite well so far. And I heard that GL dithered on having Leia remember her mother or not, so maybe he had an explanation in mind even back then. And the Ask the Jedi Council said recently that it was definitely Padmé that Leia remembered, not Mrs Bail or one of the handmaidens. it would be easy to retcon at this stage.

I am very much NOT a SW expert, but is it possible (because I don't know!) that the funeral could be at the very end? They could have a young Leia being shown in to say goodbye to her mother (though Leia wouldn't know it was goodbye) and then Padme dies and they show her funeral. I don't know. Just a thought.
