The Torchwood finale:



No-one else got what they wanted from opening the Rift. It would have been more fitting if Rhys had come back to life, only to become DED FROM BEELZILLA. (How many devils are there in this universe, anyway?) And then she dashes off and leaves him for days, wonder what he thinks of that?

As far as I understood, no one but Torchwood remembered much about the whole rift-opening stuff. The clocks were turned back, all the people came back to life and the damage was repaired. For Rhys, it would have been just another week of Gwen working overtime.

I can see that opening the Rift would reset Rhys back to un-stabbed, etc, but what about the giant demon stomping over Cardiff killing people with shadow? It was a result of opening the Rift, so that the opening couldn't have reset it.

That's true. Hmm, maybe they put retcon into the water supply, I don't know. It's certainly a puzzle. Although I don't think Torchwood would have trouble keeping stuff out of the news and/or fabricating a cover story (mass hallucination seems to be a classic).
