Ah, no, somebody must have miscommunicated that somewhere. Lucas has never stated they were celibate, but has stated the opposite on several occasions, here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/1989505.stm) to the BBC news: "Jedi Knights aren't celibate - the thing that is forbidden is attachments - and possessive relationships."
