1. Do you think Anakin was justified in slaughtering the entire Tusken camp?
No. Of course, what the Tuskens did to Shmi was also unjustifiable, but two wrongs...
Even if Anakin was justified in killing the adult Tuskens--even if they deserved to die--he did it in a blind rage. It was revenge, not justice, that was motivating him in that camp.
2. Whether or not you think he was justified, do you think what he did was forgivable or understandable?
Yes. Nothing is unforgivable given enough grace (thank the LORD). As for understandable--well, if I were standing, holding a gun, in the middle of a group of people who had just tortured my mother to death--
3. Do you think he should have reported what he did to the Jedi Council? Do you think Padme should have encouraged him to do so?
The trouble with the Jedi Council is that Anakin is just something out of their ballpark. They don't know how to deal with him from the get-go, let alone when he's just committed mass murder. On the other hand, he needs to get this dealt with. Tell Obi-Wan, at the least.
4. If Anakin were in an Earthly court of law, and you were on the jury, how would you judge him? Would you acquit him, convict him of a lesser charge such as manslaughter, or convict him of first degree murder?
Um. This is a tricky one. In our society, the Tuskens wouldn't be able to act the way they do. In the context of Tatooine society, Anakin would probably be a local hero. From the Coruscant POV, though...the analogy I'm seeing is a military tribunal. Then we have to consider the fact that the Tuskens would certainly have killed him too if it had been in their power. I think I would have gone for manslaughter. Wouldn't have been happy about it, though.
Thinking it over, I think applying Earthly legal terms is a bit flawed anyway.
5. Ignoring the fact that we know he becomes Darth Vader--do you think that Padme was stupid to marry him after knowing he did this?
No. She loved him, and she had no reason to believe that his anger would ever be directed towards her.
