I had a lot of the same reactions. My biggest beef with it was that it completely cut out my very favorite scene: the scene with Harry in the hospital wing when everyone is so confused and no one believes him and finally he just starts shouting out names because that's the only thing he can do. *shivers* That scene affects me every time I read it, and I was really looking forward to it, especially when they made a big deal of Voldemort naming all the DEs within Harry's hearing.
I also wish we'd seen a little bit more of Cedric's Hufflepuff side. He's a genuinely nice, decent guy, and I didn't feel that at all until close to the end. Also, we missed out on Amos Diggory and his funny bragging about Cedric that makes Harry really, really uncomfortable. I love that bit in the book.
Mostly I guess they just had to cut it so short. I wish they'd kept Harry in the enclosure with the Hungarian Horntail instead of that long, drawn-out thing with the roof. Maybe they could have used the extra five minutes to make the beginning less choppy.
