Thank you. That's very interesting. I should have guessed, because we have similar problems in Wales. I'm always having to explain that x doesn't exist in Welsh and that w after certain letters is pronounced as if it were English u.
I agree that one's own names being mispronounced is the worst thing. No-one mispronounces mine, but they do roar with laughter at the combination of my first and second names. (No! Not telling you!)
