owlI saw Casino Royale last weekend, with Phil and Gillian.
For once there was an attempt to make Bond and his girl something more than very pretty cardboard. It still was cheesy, but not as much so.
I missed the gadgets, however.
Daniel Craig—Phil said he has a Bond face, specially from a distance. I'm still not convinced by his blond-ness, though. And I don't find him attractive, certainly not so much as his co-star *points to icon* But then I don't find any of the Bonds attractive except Connery.
What is it with Bond villains having a viscerally creepy physically characteristic? There was the guy with the bullet in his brain who put his hand through tables and walked on hot coals for kicks, and the guy with the steel jaw (ok, perhaps more campy than creepy), and now weeping-blood-guy.
