The smoky-skeleton Death at the hospital was pretty eek to watch late in the evening, especially the way it walked all hunched over.

I think Owen was trying to give Tosh an out, so she doesn't feel compelled to stick with the zombie boyfriend. As for the aging makeup -- I don't think it made any sense in the context of this ep at all, but they're trying to give Martha lots of little parallels to the Doctor -- the crucifixion last week, the aging this week. Why? Either we'll find out when she returns to DW, or Rusty's just playing in the random sandbox of his brain again.
