The Stolen Earth
Jun. 28th, 2008 10:09 pmCan it be next week already? Tomorrow?
Daleks again. Heigh-ho. That got old two years ago, Rusty.
We saw the Medusa Cascade and the Shadow Proclamation. That wasn't what I was expecting the Medusa Cascade to be at all.
How come the TARDIS didn't translate the Judoon language? I think they just wanted DT to have fun speaking it.
Scary weird women with lambs-wool hair and pink eyelids. Albino lambs!
I did not like the sound of that loss that Donna has still to come AT ALL. And it looks like we haven't actually hear the last of 'there's something on your back' either.
Yay, the bees are key, and Donna gave the Doctor the clue!
I'll just say, I like the new version of Rose. She's grown up. And her voice doesn't annoy me greatly.
I liked Companionpalooza, the way it kept intercutting between the three teams. And all their reactions when EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE started broadcasting.
Loved Luke phoning the other kids, and Gwen phoning Rhys, and the mention of Tosh and Owen. *tears*
Ugh, American UNIT is annoying with that 'power vested in UNIT' stuff.
Noes, Martha is atoms!
YAY Grandad! Going for the Daleks with paint guns! And it was so smart to go for the vulnerability, shame they can steam it off. They're really going for the Dunkirk spirit thing with Grandad, aren't they?
Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister! I love that even the Daleks went along with the running gag 'we know who you are'.
Martha lives! I notice that she went back home to Mum rather than to the convenient fiancé.
I did feel a bit sorry for Rose whenever everyone else was talking and she couldn't get through, but my sympathy would have been greater if she hadn't been yapping about it.
So when they said visible, they meant 'made visible by craptastic special effect'. Mobile phones don't work like that, Team Cardiff! Oh, wait, why am I trying to apply physics to Doctor Who?
Oh noes! Harriet! No! I do note, however, that her transmission just cut out; we didn't actually see her death.
OH HAI THAR Davros.
I like Dalek Caan being a total fruitloop. He's funny.
Oh noes Gwen and Ianto! Oh noes Sarah-Jane!
As Rose and the Doctor were doing their great Romantic Run of Reunion
elerrina_amanya said to me, "She's going to die, isn't she?" I went, "Yup!" and then the Dalek popped up going "EXTERMINATE!"
Well. That was unexpected. If DT had really been leaving I thought it would have been spoiled every which way to Sunday, on the internet if not by the surprisingly-accurate-of-late Sun. But he's glowing and everything, what's going on?
Oh, stop crying, Rose, he'll still be the Doctor no matter what.
I had the impression that Donna had been told about regeneration? Am I crazy?
You know, this episode didn't actually explain how Rose was travelling between universes, did it? I suppose that's for next week.
IS THIS REALLY THE END OF TEN? I though DT was back for the specials for definite, and I was nearly sure he was in s5 as well.

Date: 2008-06-28 09:59 pm (UTC)Anyway, the episode was much better than I expected it to be. Davros coming back sounded like a very bad idea to me - he should have stayed dead in Genesis as far as I'm concerned - but it's all working out well enough so far.

Date: 2008-06-30 01:56 am (UTC)Yeah. Just a bit. I've half a mind to write a sorta-fic about using a TARDIS to jump ahead to next Saturday to watch it, but I don't think I could make it not suck.
We saw the Medusa Cascade and the Shadow Proclamation. That wasn't what I was expecting the Medusa Cascade to be at all.
I was surprised by the Shadow Proclamation (I was expecting something like a league of all the worlds that survived the Time War issuing a set of edicts or laws and not an actual place and people). Somehow that didn't work for me. That was sort of what I thought the 'Cascade would look like, though - it always seemed to me to be a phenomenon, especially after the Master spoke of the Doctor closing it.

Those contacts are really comfortable. I have a pair for a costume. I might buy another pair when my prescription changes.
Going for the Daleks with paint guns!
Very Cybergeneration; I had to laugh at that one.
I did feel a bit sorry for Rose whenever everyone else was talking and she couldn't get through, but my sympathy would have been greater if she hadn't been yapping about it.
I felt sorry for her, too. I was afraid that she'd do the whole "I'll kill myself saving the Doctor so that people will know I was in the thick of things, too!" bit, and I'm glad that I was wrong. Then again, there's one more episode left.
So when they said visible, they meant 'made visible by craptastic special effect'. Mobile phones don't work like that, Team Cardiff! Oh, wait, why am I trying to apply physics to Doctor Who?
While watching that, I couldn't help but think of the movie The Lawnmower Man. Still, trying to place a call through the Time Rift (tm) and stuff I can live with.
I like Dalek Caan being a total fruitloop. He's funny.
Scary psycho oracle. Uh-oh. Never good.

I don't recall exactly where, but I think I saw a screenshot of the tank tied to the TARDIS' console without the Doctor's severed hand suspended in it. Maybe I'm on crack...
I had the impression that Donna had been told about regeneration? Am I crazy?
To the best of my knowledge, no, she wasn't.
You know, this episode didn't actually explain how Rose was travelling between universes, did it? I suppose that's for next week.
I wonder if she wasn't using the dimensional travel gear in her particular universe to bounce back and forth, given that the Daleks were doing some hardcore messing around with Time on a massive scale (a volume of space big enough for 27 planets to orbit in equilibrium). Maybe moving the whole Medusa Cascade one second forward in time was enough to allow cross-universal travel again.
IS THIS REALLY THE END OF TEN? I though DT was back for the specials for definite, and I was nearly sure he was in s5 as well.
I really hope not. I thought the same thing.
