I've been trying to figure out why, and I think it's partially because she is ready to get married to him, and is waiting for him to buy a clue. I dunno, I just loved the intimacy between her and Alan it showed, and I think it's a perfectly logical question for her to be asking, of someone who knows Charlie better/as well as she does.
The above is no real decent/coherent explanation for why I loved it, I know. But, I don't think I can figure quite why I did.
