The church over the road has been practising its campanology (bell-ringing, for those who have never read The Nine Tailors ;) ), and they seem to be in a distinctly American mood. We just had Battle Hymn of the Republic, and now I'm pretty sure they're attempting The Star-Spangled Banner.
You have no idea what a dissonance of identity that causes to someone who's just spent her morning reading The Fortune of War. My imagination is still in the War of 1812.
