1)Total number of books I've owned?
Well, my family own at least 12,000. How many of those are mine, I have no idea, but I estimate somewhere around 1500-2000.
2) The last book I bought?
Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett. There are almost thirty books in the series, so I'm acquiring them gradually.
3) The last book I read?
Desolation Island by Patrick O'Brian. Age-of-sail is like my blankie fandom. I can return to it any time.
4) Five books that mean a lot to me:
-The Bible. No-brainer, that one.
-Lord of the Rings
I was twelve, younger and a girl. I needed to increase my geek credit with the boys I was friends with. I read it in six days including the Appendices. Then I moved on to
-the Silmarillion. There's just something about a mythology with its own languages. And maps. I like maps.
-Treasures of the Snow by Patricia St John. This was my favourite book when I was five or six. I spent a couple of years pretending to be the main characters, named my cat after a cat in the book, read it till my copy fell to pieces...
-The Harry Potter series. Do I need to explain this one?
Five people whose answers to this meme I would like to see:
This
is not a chain letter. If you break the chain, you will NOT have bad
luck. If you don't break the chain, nobody will send you lots of money
or (as a chain letter I once received demanded) ladies' underwear.
Given this caveat, I gently nudge the following people:
Well, most of my flist has already done it or is having exams or family crises or is off in the Canadian wilderness planting trees. So...
