Smudge is being exceedingly loving. He is sitting on my knee and butting my chin with his nose. Sadly, he is also very cold and wet.

This is SOP for dogs as well as cats: if cold and wet then get on boss's lap and be so cute they won't throw you off until you are warm and dry. Toby did all his best moves including the "His Master's Voice" impersonation and I didn't notice till he got down that now I was the muddy one.
