owl: Murphy on a walk; eyes headlamping in the flash (muffin2)
[personal profile] owl
My family is feeding the neighbours cat, Daisy (male. The three-year-old named it) while they are away. My mam went down to feed it, and who should be waiting for her but Muffin. Now we know where his gut came from. I'm calling him 'Double Diner'.

Ah, cats. Not as Machiavellian as they think they are.

I used to live down the road from some people who let their youngest kid name their cat. It spent its life answering to 'Pus'.

Former neighbours of our had a male cat named Chloe (same cause). He used to get beaten up by the other neighbourhood cats all the time, too, disproving the boy-named-Sue theory.

Our adopted cats are female, but they have rather masculine names. One is The Chancer, because she is a chancer, which I suppose is unisex, and the other is Percy (short for Perseverance, which I think has a nice Puritan feel.) She never gives up is there's a sniff of food or attention to be had.

My friend's ex-roommate had a cat when she was little named Mary, regardless of the fact he was male... Personally, I kind of dig that! ;-)
