Last ever Life on Mars
Apr. 10th, 2007 10:04 pmI can't believe it's over. I was nearly crying just before the end, but then when he went up to the roof I knew what was going to happen—staying in 1973 was the only satisfying ending really. I feel sorry for his 2006 mum though—he's recovered from the coma, and then he goes and jumps off a roof.
But still...kissing Annie...and I knew that Gene was going to appear and make some sarky comment. I'm so glad none of them died.
Bit confused though...what happened with Morgan and his exposé of Gene? And Sam's parents were real in 1973, not made up like Morgan told him—he met himself aged 4!
And is he now known as DI Sam Williams? I don't like that, he's a time-travelling Tyler!

Date: 2007-04-10 10:01 pm (UTC)Is it possible that 1973-Morgan made up all the stuff about working out a cover story in order to try and keep Sam on his side for long enough to have him betray Gene? Then, if Sam did survive the set up, had second thoughts, and tried to go public about what Morgan was up to - because he was just as guilty of hazarding the men's lives as Gene†, he could have claimed Sam was insane. Sam was undercover from Hyde - but he's still Sam Tyler. I think that Morgan's vendetta against Gene would fail, because he's now fatally compromised himself by not arranging backup.
I think Sam only dreamed that he woke up - hence he didn't feel the cut, becasue it was still a dream. After all, if he had really jumped off the building, he wouldn't have heard hushed voices about 'we're losing him', because rather than being hooked up to a life support machine, he'd be being scraped off the pavement with a shovel. Either that or both 1973 and 2007 are equally valid realities. and there was genuinely a sort of time-travel involved.
† Or rather more so, because Morgan was in no danger

True that. And it would avoid the "He just regained conciousness and now he's jumped off a roof!" factor
