But still, much as I grit my teeth whenever Rose or Martha try to say 'think', I don't hate them because of it.

I think that it's still a fairly local accent - even if local here includes Dave "Down with the kids" Cameron who was very Estuary on television this morning, but I bet isn't at home with his wife's parents - that gets more exposure than an changing local accent in, say, Newcastle would. I've never noticed anybody not from London really speaking it.
