Well, yes, Estuary is rather unpleasant (I LOATHE the th-->f shift because it deforms my name into a word. Do you think it'll become the standard eventually? If it does I'm moving to the South, sorry, Sout', as a dental stop is much better than an f).

But still, much as I grit my teeth whenever Rose or Martha try to say 'think', I don't hate them because of it.

We can only hope not. Actually, I suspect not. I think that it's still a fairly local accent - even if local here includes Dave "Down with the kids" Cameron who was very Estuary on television this morning, but I bet isn't at home with his wife's parents - that gets more exposure than an changing local accent in, say, Newcastle would. I've never noticed anybody not from London really speaking it.
