Perhaps he is SEKRITLY nine? Or perhaps it is impossible to write HUMAN WOMANZ for Luke without her turning into a massive Mary Sue.

If he's SEKRITLY nine, that would kind of explain why Mara doesn't seem to age either. Maybe they're both Immortal Highlanders, those don't age, and are prone to falling for stupid plot devices, which would fit. Did anyone cut off her head and make sure?

Not sure, the summary I read was not all that detailed and more inclined to the lolarious. Knowing the EU, the book consisted of unintentionally hilarious sultanas in a matrix of sawdust.
