I am feeling a bit worried about Martha. Obviously tomorrow she will be awesome as usual, and I'm not seriously afraid of her dying, but I do hope that the Unrequited Rubbish will be resolved in some satisfactory manner.
I'm actually a bit concerned that Martha will tell the Doctor to get stuffed and leave, and who can blame her if she did? I hope she'll stay around and be amazing for another series at least, and I will be cross if she does the default companion exit and goes to work for Torchwood. It would also mean that Torchwood would be shown up as the collection of pathetic incompetents that they are (ooh, Martha vs Owen!) and it would have to stop running after two episodes, unless Martha gets infected by the Magic Uselessness, which would be tragic.

ugh, here's another vote for hoping they get rid of the stupid 'unrequited' bull.

Every time they bring it up, it feels like they're saying "Martha's fun and all, but she's always going to be a stand-in for Rose. Sorry, the show's never going to be as good as it was with Rose. And just so you know we haven't forgotten that, we're going to keep. shoving it. down. your. throat."

Meanwhile, I'm going "What are you on about? I like Martha. Would you please shut up about how she's not Rose?"

RTD has said there's going to be a "payoff" for the unrequited business, but seeing as he thought a great exit for Rose was leaving her sobbing on a beach and talking as though she were already dead, I am slighlty concerned.

I also hope she doesn't tell him to get stuffed, because, well, I like her and want her around more. Maybe she'll have a fling with some random historical figure (other than Will) and the doctor will realize he's jealous.

Or maybe, I don't know, they'll give up on the whole doctor/companion thing for a while and let them just be friends. But that might be just a genficcer asking for too much.

I think that starting the whole "Rose and the Doctor 4 EVAH!!!11" was a mistake, because actors leave, etc. And how do you get back from that without making all subsequent companions look second-rate?

definitely. I also just didn't really see Rose and the Doctor as a couple. Especially not Nine, but even with Ten it was like "wait, isn't one of you nine billion years older than the other?"

I actually could see Nine/Rose more than Ten/Rose, given that Ten has an attention span of about three minutes and collects HUMAN WOMANZ non-stop. Mind you, a lot of the time I could also see Nine being Rose's surrogate father and Rose being his security blankie, so there you go.

I definetely saw Rose's relation to Nine as more surregate father esque-- I couldn't see him romantically involved with ANY human, considering how he felt about the species in general.

Ten I can see with humans-- just not with Rose. MAYBE with Martha, but honestly I hope they don't. I don't want to see any 'Martha's jealous of The Doc's historical babe of the week' wank.

I don't think Nine would have had sex with Rose (to put it in LOLCAT, WTF BIOLOGEE), but he seemed to need her, to be obsessed by her, in a way I don't think Ten was while she was there. Now, like Gallifrey, he's idealising what he's lost.
