Ok, can someone take the series finales off Rusty now plz?
I'm very unenthused by the I do believe infairies Time Lords, I do, I do business, and Jack=Face of Boe. At least he gets to die in the year 5 billion. Blech. Ooops, Rose.
Mini!Doctor was just unbearably weird.
Ok, it was a much better exit than sobbing on a beach, but I'm still very annoyed that she's not going to be around (as much). I did like that she basically told him 'I don't need you to provide me with validation because I know I'm brilliant'. Although she did turn round and say that she's leaving cos he won't love her, grrr. What's she going to do now though, do her finals and work 7684 hours a week as a PRHO—for everyone else it's been five days since the hospital went to the moon, and the brand-new Prime Minister has just disappeared in mysterious circs—it's going to be so weird for Martha to go back to that after all she's lived through. I find it interesting that Rose is now a year younger than her birth certificate, and Martha is a year older. I bet it isn't an accident that dishy Resistance guy is a paediatrician, and junior doctors can end up in any hospital...
Oh, poor, poor Doctor. The centre of this episode was the Doctor clinging to his best enemy and begging him to live. And he cried Emo Tears. And then he proved that he's seen Return of the Jedi. Does this mean that the Master is his father? It was like he's just lost Gallifrey all over again. Poor emo Time Lord(s).
I loved that bit when the Master is shrinking away and the Doctor keeps coming closer, and then tells him that he forgives him. And the Master asking if the drums will stop. I think they should have gone for the Master as companion thing, though I suppose John Simm wouldn't have wanted to stay. It would have been a nice change from companions eternally in love with the Doctor.
What's going on with Lucy? I thought she'd betrayed the Master because she was saying 'Doctor' with the rest, but that was her hand picking up the ring at the end, with the Evil Overlord Cackling in the background. I assume that the essence of the Master's in there, ready for another spot of body-stealing. I was thinking that they couldn't kill him off for ever, and there you are. So does that mean that it was a last-ditch plot between the Master and Lucy? And did she turn into catatonic woman because of the shock of realising that the Big Crunch is going to happen in a few zillion years? Astrophysics departments should be gloomy places then.
What did actually happen to the humans in Utopia once the paradox had been destroyed? Dead?
BUT WHY IS THE MARTHA GONE? She is awesome to the nth, and now she is gone. I expect that she didn't leave her magic phone behind for nothing, however. Hopefully the Doctor has now realised that dumping them in Aberdeen and never visiting is a bad idea. I would laff so hard if he decided he was lonely and wanted her back, and landed in to find her and the paediatrician guy running the best hospital in England and not interested at all. Serve him right.
Plz, plz, Rusty, can Replacement not be in love with the Doctor for a change?
Has the Titanic just punctured the TARDIS? I thought nothing could get inside it (unless the Doctor stupidly left the door open). Oh, groan, it wasn't an iceberg they hit! Groan!
IT CAN B SERIEZ FOAR NAO PLZ?

Date: 2007-06-30 09:18 pm (UTC)Martha!! I know you were too good for him, but... I didn't want her to go. she was wonderful and bloody hell she knew how to handle the Doc. I will disagree with the companion not being in love, though. I think all the companinons have to love the Doc a bit. I'm glad she went on her own terms, but I'd rather she'd stayed - she deserved some fun and a little more than a Thanks and a quick peck on the cheek that SHE had to take herself.
She better be back next year.

Date: 2007-07-01 01:22 am (UTC)I should imagine Martha will be back saving the universe next season. She's got his number. And hey, her mum likes him now.
Titanic? Pheh! As G. said, if the Doctor had been on the Titanic as often as he's claimed, the only passengers there were his various incarnations at a Doctor Who convention.
I think Lucy turned into scary woman because the Master wasn't nice to her any more. He knew she was loyal and she went in with her eyes open, but she wasn't expecting abuse after he'd got stuff his own way. And especially not heavy hints about how nice it would be to have a threesome with Tania. After all, buggery and bestiality are fine, but threesomes? Oh dear, not in her book.
Although, I have to say, it took *great* determination for the Master to completely die so quickly from a wound to the stomach. Fair dues to the lad, he did his best.
And I imagine Lucy took the ring and hopefully we won't have a plot where she turns out to be the Rani or equivalent thereof, but instead we have a nicely twisted one where she thinks she can revive the power of the Master (although we saw *exactly* how shite that can be in the TV movie) through his essence or something.
Maybe she's pregnant?

Date: 2007-07-06 08:29 pm (UTC)*snigger* True. Either it must have hit a major blood vessel in some way that allowed no blood on the floor, or Time Lords can commit suicide by the power of will.

Date: 2007-07-02 02:13 pm (UTC)There is going to be so much fic. I can live with that, especially if it's good.
Things Doctor Who has taught me: if you type "Master" into Google, make sure you type it in with other sensible things.
I was quite glad Martha left - I liked her at times, but the series didn't quite seem to know what to do with her. Perhaps they will when she comes back with a different dynamic.
