Oooh, look! [livejournal.com profile] msscribe returns!

And then real scary shit happens like some asshole starts posting my medical history and insurance info, which I did formally launch an investigation into. (Another reason I haven’t said anything) by contacting my local police department. It went nowhere. They got me information about CharlotteLennox, yep, real first and last name, and she’s lucky I’m not the crazy bitch she makes me out to be.

Scared yet, Charlotte?

LOLZ.

I was just talking about her the other day. Do you think saying her name conjures her up?

Having stayed away from the HP whirlpool for all this time, it really would be the bloodiest of ironies to get sucked in after the books have finished. I'm ruuuuuuning!

...Does she actually think anyone will believe her? She's notorious. There are Taoist monks in the deepest reaches of China without internet who have heard of her.

...And she's gone again. Wow, that was quick.

Um, I thought it was pretty universally believed that the mouse detective was Msscribe herself. MAN, she's got a lot of nerve! And I mean that in the worst way possible.

I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, f_w are just giving her the oxygen of publicity, and I bet she's rubbing her hands over being in the news again, like a four-year-old not really caring if they get attention for drawing a picture or peeing up the wall as long as they get the attention.

On the other hand, considering the sheer scale of the coverup that Charlotte Lennox described I do see why people might feel that not challenging her is 'letting her get away with it'. It's not my call to make decisions for people who were hurt by her behaviour.

On a completely me-me-me note, I'm a bit disturbed to see that a woman I used to know quite well through HP fandom is on Msscribe's friends list. She dropped me in an 'I have too many friends' cull and I wasn't any too worried; I liked her and wished her well, but we didn't have that much in common. I hope she's OK and hasn't been caught up in the batshit. :(

I think with regard to this woman I'm on the "this person is disturbed. As I cannot help her, the most useful thing I can do is ignore her" mode of operating/
.

Every time I read something about this saga, I hope that somewhere there is a really could sociologist/cultural studies person taking notes. It's absolutely fascinating (though had I been personally involved I would probably not feel the same).

A psychiatrist for the instigatory nutter, certainly, but I still think the lengthy episode (as illustrated in Charlotte Lennox's account) is very interesting in terms of showing how individuals and groups/communities work and can be manipulated by a clever person with an agenda. Because in many ways it's classic behaviour; look, right-thinking people, this Group A are out to get you, see how they've attacked me, a right-thinking person. You could be next! Yerwhat, says Group A, we haven't done anything. Aha! So you're denying it. And so on, and before you know it you have genocide, which is not to trivialise genocide, but to say that aside from the hurt caused to individuals in this case, the Msscribe phenomenon seems to show on a very small scale behaviour and consequences that happen on a larger scale with larger and infinitely nastier results, but in many ways not necessarily that different. Given that there are surely PhD students working on on-line communities and communication, I hope that this is one that gets picked up, because there's so much in it (and on the good side, too).

I wondered when she'd be back. Took longer than I thought though.
