Skinny idiot! Decorative vegetable! The back of our head! Brainy specs! Two minutes to Belgium!

Has anyone else noticed that the transition bits between series and specials, and now this, seem to involve David Tennant repeatedly going "What?!" He has about four different inflections, too.

Yes. Yes it does. Because he has the most AWESOME "What?!" ever. :p

Just makes you want to go confuse him!

My theory is that he isn't speaking English. He's speaking an alien language that, like Mandarin and Cantonese, has various tonal inflections. So one of them means "your wife is a big hippo!" and another means "more boiling oil!", etc, etc.

Alternatively, "Ginger woman in TARDIS!" could actually be "Boobies!" or "Oh noes, domesticity!"

David Tennant does an absolutely brilliant 'confused', though.

Also, you can tell he's Scottish when he says 'what' in that surprised tone of voice - it's the aspiration and the pure(ish) vowel.

The decision baffles me - it's not as if we haven't had a Scottish sounding Doctor before, or as if his Estuary was particularly good, never mind the fact that he sounds a lot nicer in his own tongue! (Come to that, I prefered his RP in 'Human Nature')

There's quite enough bloody Estuary on the telly as it is, though at least we no longer have a Prime Minister who thinks it makes him sound like a Man of the People, when in fact it makes him sound fake.

I mean, it would at least have had novelty value if they'd gone for Cornish! Doctor. Or Welsh, since it's made by BBC Wales (though it would probably have descended rapidly into 'I'm reversing the polarity of the neutron flow, look you!')
