I never am convinced that any character is "gone forever" in TV anymore. Anyway, they could pull this off and make it great, or it could be stupid and horrible.

I heard about that one a few weeks ago-- I thought it was common knowledge?

But I can't really claim to be in the loop, because I'm still not sure who the new companion is. Is it Donna? I heard it was, but I kind of hope it's not. Her comedy stuff is pretty funny, but I didn't really care for her character in the Christmas Special. Not, like, abject loathing or anything, but one episode of her was plenty for me.
