The ice could be CO2 or something else--we'll have to see what Phoenix's sensors say. Personally, I hope it's water. But I don't want to jump ahead of the evidence.

It would be totally awesome indeed. It's just weird to see the NASA report saying "this means water!" when in fact it just means ice. They seem to have jumped ahead of themselves a little.

Spending billions of dollars to prove evolution might be true because there might be a spot of ice on Mars proves nothing except that the people who sent the probe need to have their brains probed foy "hydro-encepho-fantasitis."

Water on Mars doesn't prove evolution. I'm a Christian, and I don't think it's likely that God put bacteria on Mars. And I know, I know, the money could go a thousand other places.

But nevertheless. It's fascinating.
