Titan has loads of liquid hydrocarbons. More than Earth's entire oil reserves, apparently.

I can just see BP and Shell and all those 4x4 drivers casting longing eyes to the sky...

That's actually the most likely way that space travel will ever really develop - companies looking for new resources. Whether it's a new source of fossil fuels or a new sort of fuel altogether, the opportunity for profit will be the biggest motivation.

Well, it IS a little more difficult to march off into the frontier than it used to be - can't just start walking, or hop on a horse and go see what you can see. Really, it's more akin to sailing expeditions - sure, they made great discoveries, but their primary purpose was to find resources or expand trading routes.
