Pirates of the Caribbean

Just been to see it on my afternoon off--it's been out for a week or so, but I hadn't had time. That's one ROXIN film.
I loved Will and Jack's sword fight in the blacksmith's forge, and Elizabeth fainting because of her corset, though I find it hard to believe that a girl of that era had never worn corsets before the age of eighteen. How scary were those skeletal pirates! Oh, and Governor Swann coming out of the cabin after the fight and cheering was too funny! And Jack Sparrow is nearly as much fun as Yoda to imitate. Me and my sis are going around doing Jack's hand actions and going 'savvy?'
OK, question: Why was it Turner blood in particular that was needed to lift the curse? And was William Turner, Senior, under the curse? (Imagine being tied to a cannon for ten years while being unable to drown!)
Oh, and the sequel? Pirates of the Caribbean II: Adventures of the Undead Monkey! If you stayed till the end of the credits you'll understand. But that leads us into the whole question of the moral responsibility of the monkey, and why it was included in the curse in the first place.

Thanks!
