Requisite complaining about Last of the Time Lords

I would feel better about Last of the Time Lords if the Doctor had made some acknowledgement of the brilliance of Martha instead of standing there like a dummy. I know she doesn't need him to validate her, but he needs to to avoid looking like a git.

What was the point of all the unrequited rubbish if it was going to leave the Doctor in exactly the same position as he was at the start? He even got worse at noticing her towards the end. Rose wanted a mortgage, which was impossible because he doesn't do domestic except with the Master. Martha wanted to be appreciated, which is impossible because....because...I'm thinking there is something in the racism thing, because Martha and s2 Mickey PWN s2 Rose to Pete's world and back (well, Rose has her moments of PWNing, but also moments of being written as heartless/useless), and yet the Doctor overlooks them. On the other hand Jack gets shafted too, and they retconned Sarah into unrequited, so perhaps the message is, If you're not Rose Tyler, forget it. Which is very depressing and the sooner we get rid of Rusty and his Sue the better. And it still looks bad.

I hope that Replacement is not in love with the Doctor, because that's been working so well so far: Rose sobbing on a beach and talking like she's already dead, Sarah retconned into putting her life on hold for 25 years, Martha was so unappreciated (except by the audience) that she had to leave, Jack has turned into Angel in Cardiff...look at how Mickey and Donna went instead, without angst.

We're not stupid, you know, we realise that we're meant to love the Doctor without it being forced sown our throats every episode. The companion doesn't have to be in love with the Doctor, even though Rusty is.

I spotted a few Rosefen complaining about Martha being "whiny and immature" (WHAT have they been watching for the last three months? And did they LOOK at Rose in, oh, Tooth and Claw, School Reunion, Doomsday?) and crying on the advent of Replacement. Which I don't understand, because s/he still won't be Rose, except in the minds of the deluded 5 people who believe she will return in s4. I see Sally Sparrow is a popular fan choice, and guess what, she's another blonde. At least she would have the advantage of having met her predecessor:

Sally: So why's Martha not with you any more?

The Doctor: She's good! She saved the world, but you wouldn't remember that...

Sally: Yes, but is she dead?

The Doctor: Time to move on! Very important, moving on, she taught me that...

Sally: Where is Martha?

The Doctor: *shifty look* She, erm, dumped me. Now she's a PRHO and she says she's too busy to come with me again and I saw her out with that cute paediatrician when I was stalking her with my TARDIS...

Sally: Ok, can I bring Laurence with me? And we're not going to ignore him or giggle even if he is a bit of a geek, because I am a geek about books and old houses, although that is higher up the geek hierarchy than DVDs, and you are a big mad geek too, are we all clear on this now?





I am not fussed one way or the other about Kylie, though I think it would be interesting if she turns out to be a 1912 native instead of the endless 21-century companions. And apparently she's a Doctor Who fan, so that's good.

Martha on Torchwood? Darn, now I'll have to keep watching it. Has it been announced when it's scheduled for yet? If it's not on Friday night or Saturday I won't have a TV.

The Return of the Donna! Another 21st century white female, but she isn't a teenager and she isn't it love with him (and not about to be I do hope). I'm wondering how she'll hold up as a companion for a whole series though, she might have been good because she was a one-off. And plz not to mention the word bovvered. Well, now we know where Martha and the Doctor meet again: in A & E, when he's getting his dislocated jaw reset.
