Numb3rs 5.03
Oct. 21st, 2008 09:44 pmTeam Eppes in their matching t-shirts for the win. Charlie was clearly having way too much fun with that motorbike, and it was a nice hark-back to the first first scene of him in the Extreme Gravity Vehicle. The boy has adrenaline issues. But wouldn’t they have got better results in a proper wind tunnel?
Ack! Robin! Do not be dumping Don again! He smiles now! He has cute hair! You’re funny together! Don’t go to New York!
Loved Don’s “Uh-oh, you’re addicted”, and him actually talking to Charlie about Schmidt. Loved Charlie and Amita exchanging that 'he's completely insane but we love him anyway' look while Larry babbled about drugs. Charmita’s snogfest while Larry rambled obliviously on was lolarious. I don’t know what Charlie was saying "Sorry" for, because if they’d taken things much further even Larry could hardly have failed to notice. Get a room, kids. :) “I’ll call Don.” Yeah, Charlie, not a significant slip in the least.
I loved David so much in this one. Trying to knock sense into Colby, straightening out Nikki’s priorities. And it was great that Don gave her a little lecture on her loyalties too. The writers are really making her work for our approval.
Colby, Colby, Colby. I saw this episode last year with Don, and I didn’t like it then either. What were you thinking? Oh, yeah, you weren’t. Next time David says SCARY STALKER TERRITORY HERE, DUDE, listen.
(I can just imagine David’s sessions with Bradford: “My boss is…well, you know all about my boss, and good luck getting Charlie to disagree with him in public, no matter what he says between the two of them. The rookie is a loose cannon who thinks she’s still in LAPD and shoots her mouth off every ten minutes, and now Colby’s gone all freaky-stalker-mode again. It’s hard work being the voice of reason and conscience for the whole team, no wonder Megan left!”)
I’m glad to see someone stepping into the moral compass role, and I’d predicted David, which pleases me. Now if Don would only grow his moral compass back…and we could get a few proper Megan mentions!
I love Alan calling Don out on talking to Robin, and Don acting like a little boy with his hand in the cookie jar. And Alan’s cunning reverse psychology: “Whutevah, Donnie. I’ve given up all hope of grandchildren from you. I’ll just go and drop a few hefty hints on Charmita.”
And it pays off! Don actually talking to his girlfriend for a change, yay. And how cute is that little stumble over "I do"? So it looks like he's not dumped, but...is Robin going to disappear to the east coast like Terry and Megan? Say it ain't so!
Yay Nikki arresting the bent cop. Go, girl.
Oh, brothers. So much love! Charlie refusing to buy back his clearance by selling out Don, worrying about Don sacrificing for him when they were kids (ooh, backstory! More detail, writers, please.) And Don giving his ultimatum to Magowan, and when Magowan tells him that he and Charlie "have the same way of looking at things" that grin!
I'm a little afraid that Don is bluffing with no cards, though. It seems to me that Magowan would like nothing better than to get rid of both Eppes brothers at one go. You'd better know what you're doing, Don....

Me too. :-( I love that Don was willing to go there (talk about the exact opposite of his explosion at Charlie back in "Uncertainty Principle"), but I kind of think it's Don that Magowan has it in for, so....

Date: 2008-10-21 10:35 pm (UTC)I had so much love for both boys at the end. Especially Don's lovely grin when Magowan told him he was like Charlie. They've come on so much since the first season, haven't they?
