Numb3rs 5.06: Magic Show

Poor David, his romantic luck is almost as bad as Colby's. I loved Don's surprise at David calling him when he (David) was on a date. Like Don ever gets to finish his dates.

It's actually kind of ironic: Don is now doing the best, romantically, out of the team.

I loved the meta-snark of Colby complaining about how dark it was, but I wish the crew would invest in a few lightbulbs. We like being able to see the characters.

I liked Don talking to Larry, and then using work as an excuse to escape from talking to Alan. The therapy didn't give him a complete personality transplant, he still has difficulties with the whole 'talking' business. I liked the scene where Alan apologises to Don for never teaching him about God (I think Alan still feels guilty about overlooking Don in general), and Don, of course, assures his dad that he's fine. And that Margaret's cooking was better, heh. I loved the line about Don expecting his phone to ring and save him. It's just so characteristic. I'm feeling very fond of Don at the minute, now that he's got over the whole DonnieDarko business and is back to his s1 and s2 self.

I felt that Charlie was being treated just a little harshly. Okay, he was a bit grumpy (I had to laugh at Charlie's "Can we please go home now? She's hiding under the stage..." It was just so younger-brother-ish, I bet Don was getting flashbacks.), but 'pull it apart and see how it works' is at the root of the scientific impulse, and you'd think Larry and Amita would understand that Charlie can't turn it off in this case. And, no, I don't see all that Venus-reverse-evoltion that Larry was talking about, either. Besides, if Charlie hadn't debunked the mirror box to Nikki, the team would have ended up arresting box and all.

But it was worth it for that closing scene with Amita in the petals showing Charlie what she saw in magic. She seemed like she was having so much fun, and looked so beautiful. And Charlie standing there laughing and smiling up at her, looking completely in love. *aww*

I got rather tired of him when it looked like they were just doing it for the sake of edginess and not having any consequences, but now there have been consequences and I'm all satisfied.

And Rob Morrow's grin is a thing of win and awesome and I'm glad to see it more often. :)

That last moment of Amita flying amind rose petals and Charlie looking up at her just made me clutch my heart and squee.

I mean, I agree with everything you've said here (hugs for David! cheers for Don!), but I had to specifically agree with that moment; if it would reduce to 100x100 piuxels, I'd be really tempted to get an animated icon of it.

Whenever Charlie smiled and capitulated and went to the control panel, I just melted, and continued to melt for the remainder of the scene. I've seen several people who don't like Amita or Charlie/Amita say they really liked it. It was a lovely, sweet, adorable scene, and David Krumholtz has an absolutely gorgeous smile.

What did you think of the Charlie vs magic thing? I was pretty much with Charlie against Larry's, um, woo-woo, although I thought Amita had a point.
