I really liked this episode!
Aw, it's the return of Charlie's cocky enthusiasm. Kind of sweet, but I have an inkling he's headed for an Uncertainty Principle-type fall.
I am amused by Alan's insulting the skills of high school valedictorians, and Charlie and Amita's simultaneous protests. Charlie was valedictorian at 13? He must have been really good at everything that wasn't English. This is setup for the episode with the basketball team, right?
I liked the scene with Liz arguing with David with her hair all wrecked, and Don's I-am-pulling-this-car-over-right-now attitude, and Colby's 'What did I do?" made me lol.
"You'd better hope you don't have a daughter." Oh, Colby, you kill me!
I never thought when Liz first arrived on the cast that I'd enjoy a Liz-centric episode so much. But then, I always thought Agent Liz was a big improvement on Girlfriend Liz. It was interesting seeing her working with the DEA agent, made her character more rounded. And I liked the action scenes, and felt really nervous for her when she was alone with the drug dealer and he made her strip.
I had to snerk at Liz leaving Charlie with his hand in the air for a high-five. Watch yourself, Warner, if you're too mean to Charlie Don won't like it.
I liked Alan saying that they knew Charlie wouldn't get an athletic scholarship and Amita soothing his ruffled feathers and saying the knew he didn't need one. And the basketball giving Charlie an epiphany moment.
*aw* at Amita trying to calm Charlie down when he was freaking out about his model not predicting events.
Poor David must feel like he's the only person on the team who doesn't have a nasty habit of withholding vital information and coming up with their own little plans, after Don in Arrow of Time.
Aw, and he got his promotion. Long weekends? Who is this and what has he done with Don Eppes? Talk about mellowed.
I loved Alan teaching Amita about basketball, and her trying to learn for the sake of her sports-mad adopted family. I'm sure a lot of people hated her asking Alan what was up with Charlie not proposing, but I thought it was realistic. Her own parents are far away, she doesn't actually know there's anything wrong in her relationship with Charlie. My theory is that Charlie's forgotten they aren't married already :)
And what a lovely brother moment. I love that Don has found his peace with fighting the little battles, and that his door (cubicle) is always open for Charlie, and his way of finishing the conversation with a cushion fight and his adorable little yelp as Charlie barraged him with multiple cushions. I wonder if it was scripted or adlibbed. DK looked really startled when the cushion hit him. :)
Also, light! Clearly Rob Morrow is sick of acting in the dark. Hope the other directors take heed.
