Anne's hen night

That was the first hen night I've ever been to. It's odd, because it used to be only 'grown ups' got married, then it was people three or four years older than I, and now the first person my age is getting married. (She's still 15 months older, though!)
It was in the 'Water Margin', a Chinese restaurant on Donegall Pass, down towards Cromac Quay. We had to ditch the car (I met Anne when I was getting money at the petrol station and she gave me a lift; originally I was going to walk.) in Botanic Avenue and hike along Donegall Pass on our heels. We went through a dispersing band parade and they whistled. We were all dressed up, and Anne and her bridesmaids had been having their make-up rehearsal, so I suppose they did look pretty. Anne was at any rate, a real blooming bride.
I ate too much, but it cost £15, so I wanted to get my money's worth! I'm sure I didn't order £15 worth either, but we were splitting the bill, so it couldn't be helped.
Catherine had brought a dressing-up wedding veil, and Anne put it on and got the waiter to take pictures of all of us. We deserved a good tip after that!
There was a karaoke machine (we were in a little side room) and we sat for about an hour and a half with our puddings, fighting over who didn't have to have the microphone. Then we passed it around and said a few words about what Anne meant to each of us, and wished her well in her marriage. We all got a wee thing emotional then, but I don't think any of us actually cried.
It was nearly midnight when we finally left, and there was only one other party left in the restaurant. They were at the drink, though.
I was wearing a pair of sandals my mam got for £5, for her school reunion. They did look a bit frumpy and summer-holiday-ish (they have cork-effect soles) when everyone else had on strappy sandals, but when do I go anywhere to need fancy sandals? I do need a new pair of gutties for the summer, because the ones I have are about to go into holes in the heel.
I had a good night, even though I originally felt I couldn't be annoyed going.
ETA: The spellchecker doesn't like strappy or towards. Weird. It also deasn't like any word with an apostrophe (didn't, couldn't).
