I feel utterly...flattened.

Anakin Skywalker, you are the biggest plonker in the history of plonkerism. Or possibly that might be Obi-Wan. Gaaah!!

I liked the fight in the Senate Chamber. Palpatine smashing up the fabric of democracy, in visuals. Also, the scene with Padmé and Bail in the Senate. Why was everyone so enthusiastic about the new empire? I don't think there was enough politics in there. I missed seeing Mon Mothma and the start of the Rebellion. Hopefully it will be on the DVD—is it in the screenplay? They could have cut out some of the Grievous stuff for that.

Yoda was great. No silly Order 66 can stop him! Also, seeing Chewie was good.

The Anakin/Padmé scenes were so sad to watch when you know what's coming later. Hayden and Natalie seemed very comfortable acting together this time around. *sniff*

The scenes with the twins going to their new homes nearly defeated my hither-to tearless eyes. Alderaan was particularly sad, considering ANH. And Owen and Beru standing on the same spot as Luke in ANH and Anakin in AotC...

I don't hate Obi-Wan as much as I expected to after seeing the film. Still REALLY DON'T LIKE him, though.

That's so funny, because after ROTS? I have a whole new appreciation for Obi Wan. I mean, I always "repected" him--I mean Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor make it impossible not to--but I didn't *really* care either way about the character. I felt I didn't know him at all. This movie I felt gave us a new insight into him. And it makes that scene in his hut with Luke all the more poignant or something.

I dunno. I'm still not articulate.

I've always identifed a lot with Obi-Wan, and I do even more now. He's such a perfect Jedi that he cannot understand how the sweet boy he raised could possibly go THAT bad THAT quickly. It is simply beyond his comprehension. And the look on his face when he's standing at the top of the ramp as Anakin chokes Padme . . . you know Obi means business and he means it NOW.

*Huggles her Obi-Wan tightly*

I loved Anakin up until the Youngling scene. I was so horrified and terrified of him after that.

So basically, the book gives the reader a very good sense that Obi-Wan is gay.. but the movie gives Obidala fans a lot to squee about.

*Huggles Obi again*

GRRRR... where the heck did he get the name BEN??

Oyah. Certain scenes made me think, "Now I finally understand where the Obi/Ani slashers are coming from." Mind you, even though the movie convinced me that Anakin and Obi-Wan loved each other, I still see it as non-slashy type love - the Anakin/Padmé love is just too central to the story (I mean, he turns to the Dark Side out of fear of losing her!) for me to pair either of them with anyone else. (Besides, Master/Padawan slash squicks me anyhow - I don't read Qui-gon/Obi, either.)

Hence, you won't see me supporting Obidala any time soon, either, even though I admit that the movie would make it easy - apart from Anakin/Vader freaking out at Padmé over "Obi taking her away from him", which could be, erm, interpreted with a bit of fantasy (c'mon, don't tell me no one's gonna do that!), the scene where she died made me come away with the strong impression that he loved her. But guess what? There is such a thing as loving someone without wanting to shag him/her.

Yeah, I definitely don't see the Obidala in this movie either. Would that be the scene where he manipulated her and showed no caring for her pain, the one where he stood and watched her choke, or where he ignored her dying words?

Yes, yes, that was exactly the thought I had!

You "really don't like" Obi? Why? Because he realised to late that Anakin was turning to the Dark Side?

Yeah.

Of course, if he'd finished off Anakin, there would've been no Vader and thus, no story...

Ooh, I didn't think about that. Great symbolism!

As I continue to think about this movie, there are so many layers to it. Everyone on LJ has new and interesting thoughts. Who says Star Wars isn't deep?
