I don't really like the implication that Anakin was conceived via Darth Plagious' manipulations. I liked thinking of him as the son of the Force itself, not some genetically-engineered cogwheel in the Sithly Cunning Plan (TM). Although I suppose it is irony, that the man designed to be the Sith's ultimate weapon ended up destroying them forever. But I still liked it better the other way. At least it wasn't stated outright. And, as ladyaeryn pointed out, it may all have been a lie. Palpatine is not noted for his sterling truthfulness.

When I saw TPM, it kind of creeped me out the way Palpy looks at Anakinand pats him on the shoulder, "We'll watch your career with great interest", like he knew something he wasn't telling. I think he lied to Anakin to further confuse him. Maybe Palpy is under the assumption that his master created Anakin.
