I'm reading Howl's Moving Castle (again), and I've noticed a slight resemblance between Howl and a Heyer hero. The dandy-ness, the, ahem, sulking, the 8787 women until the heroine arrives....I can just imagine Vidal covering everything with green slime. And Sophie does has a certain air of now-drink-up-your-nice-gruel sometimes, doesn't she? However, I like "It should be hair-raising."
"And you'll exploit me."
"And then you'll cut up my suits to teach me."

better than "You'll coerce me shamelessly."

I've never actually seen the film (is that film!Howl?), but I rather liked that the black door led to Wales. In the Chrestomanci series by the same author, there were hundreds of parallel worlds and one of them was ours, so I was sort of used to it.
