Wimbledon? Glastonbury? Who gives a toss? We want the Doctor and co back again!

I want to see what #10's going to be like. I want to see Rose getting used to him. I want to see what happened to Jack on Satellite Five. I want to see some alien planets! (Davies, we don't care if they aren't quite up to Star Wars. It's traditional to have the strings showing! And quit bashing Star Wars while you're at it. Some of us happen to like both.)
Darn it, I want more programme! The sensible thing to do would be forget all about fandom until the Christmas special at least, but that's proving difficult. What I'd like at the minute is fanfic with a plot. Lots of fanfic, not much plot, lots of pick'n'mix TARDIS inhabitants according to which one the author likes least. I want to pretend it's another episode I'm reading *sniff*

My fandoms' main characters all seem to be two guys and a girl.
Luke, Leia, Han.
Harry, Ron, Hermione.
The Doctor, Rose, Jack (Well, not all the time, but that's the most interesting bit IMO).

Hmmm. Lord of the Rings doesn't fit this, though.

Also, everyone go and read Sure As Eggs is Eggs by doyle_sb4. The Doctor, Rose and Jack deliver Margaret the Slytheen back to her supercalifragilisticexpieladocious home planet. The fic is absolutely brilliant.

I just don't see the point. In both of the trilogies we have a trio of main characters, two men and a woman. In both, one of the men is in a canonical relationship with the woman. And yet we have Obi/Ani and Han/Luke slash. It's not just a question of 'This character is canonically straight' (and the rejoinder to that is 'Ever heard of bisexuals?'), but, 'this character is canonically in a relationship with someone else'. It's irrelevant whether Anakin or Han like men as well as women, because they've each chosen a particular woman. I'd be equally annoyed if someone put them in a relationship with a Mary Sue female.
And Obi-Wan/Anakin annoys me the most, I think. Both of them see their relationship as familial, and, frankly, I can't see Obi-Wan having sex with anyone, let alone his Padawan. Making it merely about sex (ugh) would flatten out the interesting relationship as it actually is: Anakin trying to treat Obi-Wan as his father-figure while Obi sees him as a brother; fernwithy brought this to my attention the other day. Their differing expectations are part of the problem with them. Anakin needs someone to fill the dad-shaped space, and guess who's all ready to step up? Yup, Palpatine.

I've had a sore throat on and off, for ages; about a month. Yesterday I took 2/3 gram of vitamin C. This morning, no sore throat. Why didn't I do that weeks ago?
