Numb3rs fic: Still and Always
Oct. 2nd, 2008 11:15 pmTitle: Still and Always
Rating: PG
Characters: Don, Charlie
Summary: Don and Charlie, getting incrementally closer to fine. Post-episode tag for When Worlds Collide. I meant to post these before s5, and I have!
Note: This fic follows Things We Can't Untie and Not Academic. They belong in the same sequence, although I like to think each can be read independently.
As this is written in tight third-person pov, remember that Don is an unreliable narrator when it comes to Charlie and guilt.

Aug. 25th, 2008 11:15 pm-Organise the music on my laptop
-Read The Players and the Rebels, my copy of which arrived on Friday, yay.
-Write my fic for the summer challenge on
I also still have not found the Windows installation CDs and documentation for the laptop. I've looked everywhere I can think of in this house and they aren't here. I think my parents must have them, but my mother says she doesn't remember. This is whatcomes of tidying things up, sigh. They could have lived under my sofa quite happily for the next three years.

flight of the heron
The title of the first in a trilogy of books by DK Broster, set during and after the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. It was one of my earliest fandoms, of which I was practically the sole member.
luke/keiten
Okay, this is kind of embarrassing. Luke Skywalker +
arthur ransome
The author of the Swallows and Amazons children's book series. It's a classic, and it's brilliant. If you've never read it, what are you waiting for?
county down
The county where I was born and grew up. I'm currently living just across the river, but Belfast doesn't really count. All Irish counties are named in English with the word 'County' in front, unlike the counties of England. It's often abbreviated to Co. when it's written down, which causes confusion to outsiders. I was telephoned once by someone in NHSCR wanting to check an address, and she said "Bryansford Road, Newcastle, Codown". I explained, while trying carefully not to laugh.
vorkosiverse
A contraction of "Vorkosigan universe", the world created by Lois McMaster Bujold in her series of SF books featuring Miles Vorkosigan and his parents. They're brilliant, definitely recommend them to anyone who hasn't read them.
roman britain
What it says on the tin; the period in which Britain was the Roman province of Britannia. I got into via Rosemary Sutcliff's historical YA fiction in this setting; I think she's also in the interests list.
tengwar
The writing system (it's not really an alphabet because the sound assigned to each character can change depending on the language represented), invented by JRR Tolkien for his invented Elvish languages, Quenya and Sindarin. Inventing your own language and a way to write it is just cool. I have invented an alphabet myself, and made a font out of it.
In other news, it's still raining. There's a severe weather warning on the Met Office website. Sadly, today is the day our church's camping holiday starts. And because it's been raining all week, the campsite will already be a sea of mud...
It was working fine when I was last at home a week ago! What happened?

In short, I am a Wit (my sense of humour is clean, complex and dark), an Ace Detective and an English Genius.
The postman we have at the minute is a pain in the neck. I live in number xx5, and last week I got a letter for xx7, and today two for xx9. It's not that I mind running up the road and sticking them through the right door, it's not like it's in the ountry where the next-door neighbour is half a mile up the road and two lanes, but it does make me wonder where my post is going. I was expecting a letter from occupational health, and nothing's come yet.

Change to Suspend Journal--looks like a one-post lock-down
A load of stuff, including the long-promised journal search and stats, although the way they're implementing it looks more like stalking than stats (there is an opt-out) All I want to see is my referrals, LJ.
Funny clip
Aug. 11th, 2008 08:20 pmFirst reaction: goodness, he's cute (the attractiveness of Rob-Morrow-as-Don can be described by many words, but I would not include 'cute' among them :) )
Second reaction: he looks about 16, seriously (hey, if Don had that face in high school, no wonder he had no trouble getting a date to the prom!)
Third reaction: Joel was such a DORK. :D
Fourth reaction: Back in the days when Rob still believed in moving his mouth to talk--sometimes I have to rewind Don's lines so I can understand them. Is that him doing Californian or something?
